Who/What is Ivar?

In Norse history, Ivar was the son of Ragnar Lothbrok, and avenged his father’s death by invading present day England and killing the queen that ordered his father’s death.

But, the name Ivar has its own meaning. In old Scandinavian language, the name Ivar means “Bow Warrior”. The bow being the first modern weapon designed for “hey, see that guy way over there, I don’t like him and I want to see a stick of wood sticking out of his chest”. The name Ivar also has strong community ties as Bows and arrows of that time and region mostly came from the Yew tree. The Yew tree was often affiliated with where families and communities gathered to make bows and arrows for defense.
